Cecile Michels
Cecile Michels migrated to Armidale last November.
She did her musical studies in the Netherlands (Conservatory of Brabant in Tilburg and additional
courses with Marion Verbruggen, Marjolein van Roon) obtaining a state diploma of recorder teaching.
For 20 years she taught the recorder in various regions of France (Grenoble, Paris, Burgundy,
Poitou - Charentes) in music schools and summer courses, studied musicology at the University of
Sorbonne Paris participated in courses in Renaissance dance at the Conservatory of Lyon, followed
by courses at the Medieval Institute in Paris.
She toured in Belgium, Germany Czechoslovakia, USA and Australia and has been involved in the
organisation different musical exchange projects, creation of events around exhibitions and promoting music by Australian composers
Interested in music therapy and linking music with language teaching she has developed several
programs to work with disabled persons and approaches to the teaching of languages to young
children through songs and sounds exploration.
She has extensive choir experience, and has performed in cathedral, conservatorium, Gregorian,
Renaissance, Baroque ensembles and choirs specialising in 19th and 20th century music.
